Unifying and simplifying a diverse offer

SOCIAL DISADVANTAGE, SOCIAL PURPOSE
SVA Fundamentals for Impact
FRAMING THE CHALLENGE
Having grown rapidly and diversified to address social disadvantage at scale, how could this purpose-led organisation design simpler pathways to engage new clients, partners, investors and supporters?
RESPONSIBILITIES
My approach to the discovery phase included broad stakeholder engagement including senior stakeholder interviews, customer interviews, positioning gap analysis, desktop review of competitors, review of strategic plan to gain insights into the many facets and perceptions of the offer. I designed and facilitated in-person and remote workshops with internal teams to develop personas, customer journeys and purpose and positioning statements and then unified these perspectives with the executive team. I designed and facilitated workshops to deliver user experience design including information architecture, navigation, information taxonomies and wireframes and also fulfilled the role of website producer, project and account manager.
OUTCOMES
Via the website project, the SVA teams were unified in purpose and in a single articulation of who they are and what they do. The website redesign now enables existing and potential customers, investors, supporters and collaborators to discover ways to engage with SVA and to increase SVA’s work to alleviate disadvantage in Australia.
REFLECTION
I have been privileged to work on several design projects with the team at Social Ventures Australia. While developing the approaches to projects such as the website design (2014 and 2018) visual representation of their Theory of Change (2018), brand positioning and visual articulation of the SVA Fundamentals for Impact (2017) I have gained insight and understanding of the social impact sector, its structural and systemic conditions and the levers being used to drive systemic change.
